10 Amazing Colorado Things to Do in 2018 (Part Two)

We are back at it with a fresh list of 10 amazing things to do in Colorado in the new year. For those of you that are faint of heart, stay away from number nine!

1. Blackhawk-  old mining town with historic buildings and lots of casinos.  Nightlife, dining, and shopping

2. Craig-  world-class elk hunting on the rolling plains.  Fishing and camping along the Yampa River, museum of NW Colorado, wide open ranch lands

3. Dinosaur National Monument-  fossil exhibit, dinosaur quarry visitor’s center, canyon rafting, hiking, and camping.  Nice quiet getaway, far from “civilization”

4. Colorado National Monument-  located near Grand Junction on the western slope.  View arco sandstone formations, camping allowed, fishing and kayaking on the Colorado River

5. Ft Collins-  70% of all craft beer in Colorado is made here thanks to pristine water from the Cache la Poudre River.  20 craft breweries that offer bike and beer tours

6. Rocky Mt National Park-  just west of Estes Park, the 2nd most popular national park.  Incredible views of the mountains and abundant wildlife including protected herds of elk and mule deer

7. Lake Granby-  third largest body of water in Colorado, home to the Lake Granby yacht club, great fishing for brown/rainbow/lake trout as well as sockeye salmon

8. Mt Evans Scenic Byway-  if you’re a confident driver you should attempt to climb the highest paved road in North America.  The summit is at 14,265’ with great class 2 and 3 hikes

9. Long’s Peak-  an impressive 14’er that offers simple hikes as well as class 3 to 5 climbs to the summit.  Long’s Peak Campground is a great camping opportunity

10. Glenwood Springs-  hike along the renowned Hanging Lake trail and check out the dining in town.  Mid-sized town with good dining and lodging
