Celebrate Thanksgiving in Frisco, Colorado
Posted by: admin November 12th, 2015
Winter is here. Gone are the long summer days and the beautiful fall foliage. But, wait, isn’t wintertime in Summit County what it’s all about?! Of course … especially in and around our Frisco bed and breakfast this winter. We’ve obviously got ski resorts now open (Arapahoe Basin & Loveland Ski Area) and more to come in the next couple of weeks. But what about all the other stuff going on? We’ve got Wassail Days coming up, the 3rd annual Turkey Day 5k and of course a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings at your home away from home – the Frisco Lodge!
Summit County Ski Resorts
Keystone opens this weekend while Breckenridge and Copper Mountain starts their lifts turning next weekend … and all are within 20 minutes of the Frisco Lodge. Keystone will take advantage of the new snow when they get the 2015/16 season underway on November 6th with tons of giveaways, while Breckenridge and Copper do the same on Friday, November 13th.
8th Annual Wassail Days
Wassail Days is back for the eight time, December 5-13, 2015! Experience Frisco like never before (except the first seven times) while taking a leisurely stroll among downtown Frisco’s winter holiday wonderland and checking out the one-of-a-kind shops on Main Street. Even better, take it all in while sipping on a steaming cup of Wassail (Old English apple cider)! With that warm feeling all over your body, absorb the carolers singing, the Frisco Holiday Tree Lighting (Dec. 4), the Soup Cup Classic (Dec. 6), and the Ugly Sweater Challenge back for another year (Dec. 12).
On Friday, December 4th from 5-7pm, grab your Wassail and make your way up and down Main Street as carolers fill the town with holiday cheer and music. Be sure to make your way to the Historic Park Gazebo by 6pm, though, as the Frisco Holiday Tree Lighting will take place as 600 luminaries line Main Street for an extra bout of holiday mountain magic.
On Sunday, December 6th head on over to the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge for the 3rd Annual Soup Cup Classic from 4-6pm. You get to be the judge, as local restaurateurs and amateur cooks battle for the designation of best professional soup and best amateur soup.
Then on Saturday, December 12th, don the ugliest holiday sweater you can find with the Ugly Sweater Challenge on Main Street. Not only will you look dapper in your sweater, but you will get to show it off as you tackle five “holiday challenges” such as fruit cake target practice and eggnog shooters (nonalcoholic of course). Remember to stick around afterwards for an awards presentation and ugly sweater after party.
3rd Annual Turkey Day 5k
Looking to burn off some of some calories before celebrating Turkey Day with family and friends? Well, the 3rd Annual Turkey Day 5k may just be the way to do it! Open to all ages, this snow or shine event will take place on the Frisco Recreation Path and side streets. Keep in mind that this is a fun run and will not be timed … so come out and make a non-perishable food donation, run the race and stick around for the post-race party for prize giveaways and refreshments.
Thanksgiving at the Frisco Lodge
After the Turkey Day 5k, feel comfortable retreating to your “home away from home” at the Frisco Lodge for a traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings … included with your stay! We will even accommodate dietary restrictions, so please mention when booking your room.
Speaking of booking a room … if you want to give the gift of a stay at our historic bed & breakfast to family or a loved one, we are offering an extra incentive to you for all gift certificates purchased until December 24th. The Frisco Lodge will give you an additional 10% on whatever amount you purchase! This is our way of saying happy holidays to you and yours!
So get the holidays started right in Frisco with the Frisco Lodge!
