Rainy/Lazy Day Activities in Summit County

Posted by: admin September 16th, 2016

While most people anticipate a series of epic outdoor adventures when they plan a Summit County getaway, weather in the High Country doesn’t play by the rules of vacation planning. On the off chance you run into a day of rain, unexpected snowfall, or even if you’re just feeling a little tired from adventuring the day before, don’t stay cooped up in your hotel room! These are our four favorite indoor adventures to be had in Summit County, all located within ten miles from our Frisco Bed and Breakfast location.

Even if the weather isn’t necessarily gloomy but the temperatures are just downright cold, the Breckenridge Rec Center is a great spot to spend the entire day with the whole family and it is located a mere 8.7 miles from the Frisco Lodge. With state-of-the-art equipment and training facilities, spend the day catching up on your work-out-routine during your High Country getaway, or take a few hours to lounge by the pool and hot tub followed by a trip to the sauna. And while you spend the day recuperating, the kids can enjoy an epic water slide or indoor rock climbing gym. Best part? You can enjoy a fun filled day at the Breck Rec Center for a $15 day pass (for adults) and just $7.50 for kids!

While there are hundreds of options for a wild night out in Summit County, none offer much more than a good selection of craft beer, cocktails and the occasional dance floor or pool table. For those who want to experience a unique evening out on the town while indulging in libations, head over to Ready Paint Fire in Breckenridge (only 9.2 miles from the Frisco Lodge)! Open daily, Ready Paint Fire offers painting, crafts and glass fusing workshops. Not feeling the traditional date night? Head over to the art studio for one of their infamous “Late Night, Date Night, Create Nights” or a Canvas Painting Party to create your own masterpiece (with step-by-step, live instructions) while enjoying a few glasses of wine!

Put your detective skills to the test at Escape Room in Frisco, where you will be escorted into a regular looking room but forced to solve a riddle within an hour in order to escape! OK – it’s not as scary as it sounds, but it is quite an exhilarating challenge that will test your intellect and patience. Sort of like those computer games you used to play as a kid, but in real time. A Frisco Escape Room excursion is a great way to spend an evening after a long day on the slopes and serves as great entertainment for kids who want a break from hiking, biking and skiing! Located only 0.2 miles from the Frisco Lodge, your afternoon of puzzle solving fun is just a few steps from our from door. Go as a couple or bring the entire family!

Summit County’s first upscale cocktail lounge offers a luxury night out to visitors looking to try something a little different from the resort bars and mountain-themed establishments. Providing breathtaking panoramic views of Frisco’s Main Street and a small yet mouth-watering menu, The Clubhouse is located a mere 246 ft. from the Frisco Lodge. Enjoy cozy fireside lounging with a view and hand-crafted cocktails in the heart of town. And, if you’re itching to get back on the golf course this fall and winter, The Clubhouse is the place to be! Get a group together for a round of giant virtual golf. Bring your own clubs or use the ones provided, hit real golf balls on a green enclosure into a big screen and keep your skills sharp for next summer!
