Celebrate Summer With These Frisco Bay Marina Events
Posted by: admin April 14th, 2016
While we’re still over two months away from the first official day of summer (June 20th), the Colorado high country starts celebrating a little bit early. We have such a short summer season, so why not?! Although Colorado is home to over 2,000 lakes and reservoirs, the Frisco Bay might just be one of the most picturesque and practical of them all with its breathtaking beauty and variety of events and activities to take part in. While you’re staying at our Frisco hotel this summer be sure to mark the following events down on your calendars because nothing says Colorado quite like spending a day at the lake surrounded by mountains!
Frisco’s Rock the Dock Party
The Colorado high country, and those of us in Frisco in particular, will kick of the summer this year on June 4th with the Rock the Dock Party at the Frisco Marina. Just steps away from our Frisco bed and breakfast, from 11am to 3pm you can grab a burger and meal deal from the Island Grill while dancing the day away to live music under our infamous Colorado blue bird skies. Nothing says summer quite like a burger, beer and dancing, does it?
National Marina Day
Now that our summer is in full swing (still not officially summer, though), come down to the Frisco Bay Marina to celebrate National Marina Day on June 11th at 8am. Celebrated as a nationwide boating event that is dedicated to grow boating participation across North America with on-water and landside activities, National Marina Day takes on new meaning at our quintessential mountain town. This is a great way to introduce yourself to all of the water recreational opportunities available at the Frisco Bay Marina (canoe, kayak, paddle board, sail etc.) with discounted boat rentals and safe boating demonstrations.
Timberline Cruiser Regatta
Now that summer has officially begun across America, the annual New Belgium Timberline Cruiser Regatta returns to the Frisco Bay for the ninth time on Saturday, June 25th. This sailboat race is open for anyone who wants to compete, but the only caveat is that you have your own sailboat (that’s all)! Wackiness is encouraged as costumes and creativity will be rewarded and a buffet dinner and New Belgium beer will be abundant at the after party.
Kids Sandcastle Competition
The sixth annual Frisco Bay Marina Kids Sandcastle Competition returns again this year on Saturday, August 20th. With awards going to three teams in four different age categories, this is a great event for the kiddos to take part in. Last season saw many different shapes and sizes of sand castles that included flags, bridges, goldfish, moats, dog treats, and even dogs! I guess there really are no rules!
Classic Boat Show
Contrary to popular belief, this event is not just for boating enthusiasts. The Frisco Classic Boat Show includes a fleet of 20-30 classic wooden boats on display on Saturday, August 20th at 9am. Walk the docks to check out the boats and stick around for the boat parade at 12:30pm. This event is free to all that want to attend.
