Celebrate Oktoberfest in Keystone
Posted by: admin August 25th, 2015
We’ve said it a million times before … Frisco truly is “The Main Street to the Rockies.” With its centralized location to all that is Summit County, a stay at our Frisco hotel on Main Street, Frisco gives you unfettered access to all of the limitless recreational, cultural and festive opportunities that materialize in our beautiful little slice of heaven. One such activity that just so happens to be coming up on Saturday, September 5th is Oktoberfest at Keystone Resort, just a little over 10 miles from the Frisco Lodge. Read on for more information about this annual polka festival.
This one-day event, as the Keystone website states, will allow you to “kick up your heels and raise a stein with Colorado-brewed Oktoberfest beers, oompah bands and German fare that will make your mouth water!” With the festivities starting at 1pm and running until 6pm, you might want to strap on your lederhosen and get ready for what the day may bring.
This family-friendly event includes a little bit of everything for everyone. The adults, in particular, will enjoy the beer garden with a slew of fall Colorado craft beers on tap. Purchase a commemorative mug for $25, or stein for $35, and get three beers with purchase and $5 refills the rest of the day! Food vendors from New Moon Café, 9280, Kickapoo Tavern, Wolf Rock, Luigis Pasta House, Inxpot and Snack Shack will also be on hand to soak up the suds. But, the kids really have it made with free activities from 1-6pm, including chicken dancing, face painting, a bounce house and performances from the Edelweiss Polka Dancers. Mom, did I mention that the River Run Village stores and shops will be having a Tent Sale from 10am-6pm? This is your chance to take advantage of end of season goodies from one of the many unique shops, including Keystone Sports, Kidz Cabin, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and The North Face to name just a few.
And what Oktoberfest celebration would be complete without some authentic live music? From 1-6pm in River Run Village there will be a full slate of musical performances from the Summit Concert Band (1-2pm), Those Austrian Guys (2-3pm; 3:30-4:30pm & 5pm-6pm) and the Edelweiss Polka Dancers (3-3:30pm; 4:30-5pm).
As previously mentioned, Keystone is over 10 miles away from our Frisco bed and breakfast, so if you are planning on indulging in some adult beverages, be safe and take the Summit Stage free public bus service to and from Frisco. And as they say in Germany … We’ll Prost (cheers) to that!
