4 Summit County Events Not to Miss this March!
Posted by: admin February 12th, 2016
Did you know that March used to be the first month of the year? That is until 1752 when we changed to the Gregorian calendar and January took over as the leader. Well, enough with the history lesson, but what does still happen in March is the first day of Spring. And with it, tons of awesome Spring events to take part in during your stay at our Frisco bed & breakfast. The following are four of our favorites, so check ‘em out!
Snowshoe for the Cure – Frisco (March 5, 2016)
What used to be called Tubbs Romp to Stomp is now referred to as Snowshoe for the Cure, but it is still the same event that has become a Frisco staple over the years. This season, March 5th is the date for you and your friends to have some snowshoeing fun and contribute to a great cause. Susan G. Komen Colorado, the Town of Frisco and the Frisco Nordic Center have teamed up to fight breast cancer with this wonderful event that has raised over 1 million dollars since its inception. This year’s event features a 3k, 5k and the new Lil Stomper Dash for beginners and children 12 years and younger. Whether you are participating or are just there to support a great cause, there are a number of perks (besides the fight against breast cancer), including free demos of Tubb snowshoes, a goody bag filled with swag, exclusive trail access, a participation bib, and access to the post-event celebration with sponsor booths and live entertainment.
GoPro Big Mountain Challenge – Breckenridge (March 18 & March 20, 2016)
As part of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s famed month-long Spring Fever, the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge is a great spectator event to watch some of the best big mountain freeriders in the country do what they do best … ski/ride the extreme lines, tight chutes, and gnarly cliff drops of Breck’s newest terrain, Peak 6. This is an International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association (IFSA) sanctioned youth freestyle event where the participants will compete for IFSA series points.
Subaru WinterFest – Copper Mountain (March 19-20, 2016)
Subaru owners, this one’s for you! This second installment of Subaru Winter Fest at Copper Mountain is here to help celebrate all things Winter! But, before we get to the meat and potatoes of this event, just know that if you drive a Subaru, you get access to a VIP experience that includes VIP parking and a free Subaru beanie by showing your keys at the Subaru WinterFest igloo. Okay, now the good part. This 14-stop event at “the best mountains across the country” will enable you to demo the latest equipment from Nordica and LibTech, demo SPY Optics gear, grab some free Subaru swag, participate in a Subaru Scavenger Hunt, have a Subaru Giant Adirondack Chair Photo Experience, and just enjoy the slopes of Copper Mountain!
The World’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt – Copper Mountain (March 27, 2016)
Back to Copper Mountain to round off the month of March, the World’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt is a kid’s paradise, and a great way to celebrate Easter. Covering over 2,500 acres with 65,000 strategically placed eggs, there will be special hunts for children of all ages, including an on-mountain hunt for adults that utilizes the resort’s Sherpa app.
