4 February Events Not to Miss in Summit County

Planning on staying at our Frisco bed and breakfast this February? If so, you are in luck because depending on the weekend of your stay, you will have some exciting events to choose from, and all of them are an easy drive from the Frisco Lodge. From a Mardi Gras celebration at Keystone to a scavenger hunt at Arapahoe Basin, February 2016 is jammed packed with special events to witness or take part in. The following are four of our favorites.

Mardi Gras & Gumbo Cook-Off (February 9, 2016)

Mardi-Gras-Gumbo-Cook-Off-Keystone-COOn Tuesday, February 9th from 2:30-5pm, take the 20-minute drive from our Frisco hotel to Keystone to kick off Mardi Gras in style. Grab your beads, favorite celebratory outfit and your appetite for the Mardi Gras & Gumbo Cook-Off at River Run Village. For just a $12 entrance fee, you will enjoy unlimited tastings of some of the best Gumbo in Summit County while listening to the musical stylings of Funky Johnson. Awards will be handed out by a panel of judges for best seafood/exotic, best chicken and best sausage. There will also be a People’s Choice award determined by your votes and a Team Spirit accolade awarded as well. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Snake River Community Association.

Hope on the Slopes (February 20, 2016)

Hope-On-The-SlopesThis fun, competitive and family-friendly event on Peak 9 at Breckenridge Ski Resort welcomes participants of all ages to Hope on the Slopes from 9am-3pm on Saturday, February 20th. Benefitting the American Cancer Society, teams of up to 15 participants and individuals compete for the most fundraising, most vertical feet and continued participation on the hour awards. Make your ski day more memorable by raising money for a great cause while traversing Breckenridge’s four peaks.

Copper Uncorked (February 20, 2016)

For a unique spin on the traditional wing challenge, take the 15-minute drive from the Frisco Lodge to Copper Mountain for Copper Uncorked on Saturday, February 20th. Wings, wine and snow is the mantra as chefs compete for the best wing recipe and wine pairing, proving that wings can go with more than just beer. Enjoy live music while you nosh on the combinations before picking your favorite for the win.

New Belgium Mountain Adventure (February 27, 2016)

New-Belgium-Mountain-AdventureGet your hunt on Saturday, February 27th at Arapahoe Basin for the 3rd annual New Belgium Colorado Scavenger Hunt from 9am to 4:30pm. Don your favorite costume while chasing chickens, searching for Bigfoot and answering some ridiculous riddles while skiing and bonding with friends, family and strangers. For just $10 per person, you will join the convoy of New Belgium and A-Basin characters on the slopes for a full day of scavenging.
