BBQ and More BBQ
Join over 30,000 spectators and over 70 BBQers from around the country as they compete for a variety of awards, including ribs, pork, brisket, chicken, barbecue sauce, anything goes, salsa, side dishes and dessert. Get your taste buds ready as each team will compete for the titles of Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion over this three-day event. This Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS)-sanctioned event permits the winners to be eligible to compete in the the “World Series” of Barbecue – the American Royal.
Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey Tour
On Friday, June 17 at 6pm, a limited amount of participants will take part in a special tasting of Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey paired with BBQ plates from a sampling of this year’s competitors. This behind-the-scenes tour not only scintillates the senses, but you will be given tips, tricks and secrets from the cooks themselves as they concoct their BBQ dishes for the competition. Tickets are a hefty $100, but will also include your very own bottle of Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey, some delicious BBQ and a commemorative glass to remember your experience.
Bacon Burner 6K
On Saturday, June 18 at 9:30am the 3.8 mile out-and-back Bacon Burner 6K returns to the Frisco BBQ Challenge. Here’s your chance to burn off some of those calories in one of three waves: family/walk/jog, average runner and competitive runner. Beginning at the Frisco Marina, you will run along the paved Summit County Recreation Path for a chance to win an award in one of even age categories. All racers will receive commemorative Bacon Burner garb, and those 21 and older will get a free beer ticket to turn in at the Colorado BBQ Challenge.
Fire Fighter Cook Off
On Saturday, June 18th at 11am, firefighters from all three Summit County fire departments will be raising funds by cooking their favorite delicacies for you to enjoy.
A staple of every Frisco BBQ Challenge is live music, and this year is no different with seven bands taking the stage for your enjoyment. The 2016 lineup will be announced soon, but look for some of the same great music that 2015 brought you, including the likes of Pato Banton & The Now Generation, Mama Magnolia and The Samples to name just a few.
