10 Things to do in the New Year (Part One)

The Frisco Lodge happens to located in one of the best states in the nation, Colorado! Chalk full of amazing sightseeing and family-friendly events. Start checking off the New Year's bucket list with our fun list of Colorado activities.

1. Colorado Springs-  rock climbing and hiking at Garden of the Gods and Pike’s Peak.  Take a train or POV from 6,000’ to 14,114’ at the summit of Pike’s Peak.Garden of the Gods Colorado.png

2. Colorado Springs- National Museum of WWII aviation.  Open Tue/Thu/Sat with tours at 10 am, 2 pm, and 4 pm. Great family activity

3. Denver-  Denver Zoo with exhibits, shows, dining, and shopping.  Founded in 1896 in Denver City Park, 1.6 million annual visitors.  613 unique species.  $13 adults, $9 kids

4. Denver-  baseball game at Coors Field.  Watch the Rockies take on the Braves in their first regular season game on Apr 9th.  Tickets available online

5. Denver-  live music at the famous Fillmore Auditorium.  Medium sized venue with reputable acts such as Lotus and Galactic.  General admission and seats.  Tickets variable

6. Frisco-  annual BBQ festival.  BBQ vendors from across the nation compete for the title of best bbq.  Free admission, great for families and singles.  Bacon Burner 6K race


7. Durango-  southern terminus of the 484 mile Colorado Trail.  Great hiking in the San Juan Mt range. Purgatory ski resort is close by, great dining/craft beer scene, Carver Brewing top pick

8. Avon-  Vail Valley paragliding, $205 bellyache tandems, offered mornings year-round

9. Salida-  fly fishing on the Arkansas River.  Native brown trout as well as heavily stocked rainbow trout thanks to Colorado Division of Wildlife.  Lots of hiking opportunities.

10. Breckenridge-  world class ski resort with 5 peaks and lots of amazing terrain.  Great dining, nightlife, and live music all year.  Epic hiking and camping in the summer
